
Rob joined the Rotary Club of Canberra City in February 2000. He has filled a number of positions including Secretary (2 years), Club Service, President 2006-07, Rotary Foundation 2007-10, Assistant Governor 2008-10 looking after Yass, Hall, Gungahlin, Mitchell Gungahlin, Belconnen and Ginninderra. Rob was recognised with a Paul Harris Fellowship by his Club in 2007 and also purchased a Paul Harris Fellowship for Beth for the support she gave him during his Presidential year.
Rob was born in Nowra, the son of fourth generation Dairy Farmers, and has an elder brother and younger sister. He worked for 2 years on the family farm before taking up an apprenticeship with Moorhouse Machinery, Nowra, as an Automotive Engineer. He moved to Shoalhaven City Council at the end of his apprenticeship to work as a mechanic, auto electrician, supervisor and plant manager.
In 1985 Rob joined the Commonwealth Public Service as a Technical Officer and progressed to Manager of Leasing and Maintenance for the ACT Government. In 2000 Rob and Beth established Fleet Strategies Pty Ltd, a Fleet Management Consultancy business advising Federal, State and Local Government Departments on Fleet and Maintenance Management.
Rob and Beth met when Beth moved to Nowra from the Southern Slopes of NSW in 1961 and married in 1966, they have 2 children, Mark and Ros and 3 grandchildren.
Our joint hobbies are veteran cars, veteran motor cycles and travelling in our motor home. Rob enjoys Mountain Bike Riding and Beth Embroidery and Quilting.
Beth worked in Human Resource Management in the Commonwealth Public Service retiring in 2001. In retirement she has supported Rob, in the Business, the family and grandchildren and the local Church in working with the disabled.
