Bill joined the Rotary Club of Berry-Gerringong Inc. in May 1994, after moving from Wollongong to Berry in 1993 and has filled many positions within the Club including Community Service, International and Club Service Directors as well as Treasurer for a period of three years. He also served on a number of District Committees including Chair of the GSE, the District Training Team and Beyond 2000. Currently Bill is District Treasurer Elect, a position he will take up in July 2008. Bill was recognised with a Paul Harris by his Club in 2000 and has been a Rotary Benefactor since 1998.
Having moved from Wollongong, where he was employed as Managing Director of a medium size Engineering Supplies company with overseas affiliations, his wife, Mary, suggested that a good way to meet locals in a small town, would be to join a community organisation, and was fortunate to have been invited to join Rotary, and served as President of his Club in 1997/98.
Bill continued to work in Wollongong until he retired in August 2007, after 30 years of service, but remains as Chairman of the local Board of Directors. Bill is also involved in other Community organisations as Treasurer and Committee member of the Berry Show Society Inc. as well as Vice President of the Berry Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
Bill’s hobbies include philately, kayaking and riding his motorbike.
The Community emphasis continues with his wife Mary who is President of the Berry & District Garden Club, Treasurer of the Berry Zonta Club as well as Treasurer of the Courthouse Conservation Committee. Mary is also the Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Berry Show Society Inc. and has a great deal of involvement in the Annual Wine & Food Festival that is part of the Berry Show.
