The Annual Fund makes it possible for Rotary clubs to transform lives worldwide. Your generous support funds local and international projects that advance The Rotary Foundation’s mission. All contributions to the fund are spent on quality Rotary projects.
The Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY) initiative encourages all Rotary club members to help us reach our goal to support The Rotary Foundation financially each year.
District grants fund smaller, short-term activities that address needs in both your local community and communities worldwide. Each district gets to choose which activities it will fund with these grants.
You can use district grants to fund a variety of activities, including:
Districts must be qualified before they can administer district grants.
To apply for a district grant, please submit your funding request directly to your district (and not The Rotary Foundation), which administers and distributes the grant funds.
Districts may use up to 50 percent of their District Designated Fund to receive one District Grant annually. Districts receive this funding as a lump sum, which they can then distribute to their clubs.
Rotary has a long tradition of fostering peace and international understanding through education.
Since 1947, Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships have given more than 41,000 men and women the opportunity to study abroad. Although the program will come to an end in 2013, new scholarship opportunities through the Foundation's new district and global grants will give Rotarians greater flexibility to sponsor scholars.
Rotary Peace Centers offer a master's degree in international relations, sustainable development, peace studies, and conflict resolution, or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict studies
Global grants support scholarships for graduate students studying abroad in one of the six areas of focus. Scholarships range from one to four years and therefore can include an entire degree program. Prospective scholars must show proof of admission to the chosen university before the grant will be approved.
The Foundation does not require global grant scholars to carry out ambassadorial duties, but the scholarship sponsor may encourage participation in club events or service projects.
Global grant scholarships are funded using cash and/or the District Designated Fund, matched by the World Fund. The global grant budget must total at least US$30,000, but a scholarship may be a component of a larger grant application — for example, a scholarship plus a humanitarian project.
